Opinion: Road widening is never the answer

On February 23, 2023, QC Nerve published a letter written collaboratively with input from the members of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Coalition’s steering committee that explains how incremental investment in the transportation network coupled with rapid population growth puts us on an unsustainable trajectory of high traffic congestion, poor air quality, unattractive economic conditions for attracting and retaining talented workers, and unsafe streets for our most vulnerable residents and offers solutions to these problems.

Transit Driver Appreciation Day

Transit Driver Appreciation Day is an annual event to celebrate the service of public transit vehicle operators. The date of March 18 was selected to commemorate the first bus line all the way back in 1662, Blaise Pascal‘s Carrosses à cinq sols in Paris. Sustain Charlotte supporters celebrate Transit Driver Appreciation Day at the Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown.
